To prepare hydropower development master plans for all the major river basins of Nepal; To prepare river basin plans through integrated water resources management (IWRM) principles for all rivers of Nepal (except Bagmati River Basin); To develop the capacity within WECS and of other relevant stakeholder agency representatives to carry out (IWRM)
Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff:
- Review the available information on physiographic, ground and surface water resources, climate, precipitation and river flows and verify the data according to the river basins/sub-basins,
- Set up the physically based distributed hydrological model MIKE SHE, one-dimensional river flow simulation model MIKE 11 and river basin modelling and planning tool MIKE HYDRO BASIN.
- Coordinate with other related stakeholders regarding water resource planning, modeling and analysis of the projects,
- Develop alternate scenarios of water use and potential developments for sustainable, most beneficial, economic and technically feasible projects in basin and nationwide scale in IWRM approach,
- Recommend best scenario for water resources development and planning in sub-basin, basin and national context based on IWRM approach,
- Reviewed the damages caused and inundation areas by past floods of rivers in the country.
- Analyzed the impacts of climate change on rainfall patterns and flows in rivers.
