Narrative Description of Project:

The objectives of the project were: to analyze geological and hydro-meteorological parameters / context for preparing detail project proposal for the river training works; to analyze the Technical, Social and Financial aspects as the three paradigms for preparing the project proposal; to propose various alternative flood mitigation measures with dividing the river stretch into different zones based on the river morphology and severity of bank erosion.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff:

Collected necessary secondary information from previous related studies and primary information from the field visits required for the project. Analyzed the river morphology and hydro-meteorological information and performed zoning of the river stretch based on the severity of flood and bank erosion. Designed various alternative structural and non-structural flood mitigation measures for the different zones and performed cost estimates of those structures. Developed a detail project proposal for the Narayani River Training Works based on the designs and analyses performed.
